about

Primary Jet Men. 2004.

Gretchen and I lived in our one bedroom pad on Park St Brunswick. Cnr of Park and Stranger. I actually had the nerve to get her to agree to moving our bed into the lounge and going bedsit-style so I could use the bedroom as my studio.
Primary Jet Men, home recorded, co-engineered, mixed and mastered by Doron was and still is probably my best album. It's the songs, IMHO, which were all grown by playing every open mic in Melbourne for 18 months from arriving here in 2000. Beyond Jet Men, I seemed to lose sight of the song so much, and got more into recording techniques and studio pastiche (though there are still a few songs from later years which are pearls, and pastiche did work some times too, Jazz Ramble is one of my fav tracks.)
Howling to the moon grew out of some kind of home grown blues tuning, it's basically played on 3 strings tuned to a power chord.
Self-belief, self-doubt, following the road less traveled, struggling with depression, looking for my own god, abandonment, salvation. The stuff that all my songs are about, or love, which is also most ultimately spiritual and divine.
