This recording, rescued from cassette, has a few blemishes but the tune still lives.
After escaping from, stumbling out bewildered, spat out, from the underworld; music, my constant companion and I continued our intense love affair. Trading in electricity for the natural acoustic resonance of wood and steel we set about finding more space between sounds, notes that spoke to each other rather than melting together in a co-dependent haze. I chanced to move into a flat with Lal a flute player and member of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. I started writing music on paper, a skill which I taught myself with a set of teach yourself to write music on paper books that I found somewhere. Filled with fresh dreams of composing I went and did 2 arts papers in music, theory and history, at Canterbury Uni, aced the theory A+, and got into fresh mischief playing in MUSOC stage shows. I was completely out of my depth as a guitarist but with a good sound I managed to fake my way to the closing night party.
There's a little bonus at the end of the track, a sample of an arrangement of this tune that I wrote for a group of flutes.
