Recorded in 2001, Sackville Off Gold takes its name from the location it was recorded. In the front hallway (for some reason) of Hilton's flat on Sackville St, just down from the corner of Gold St. A sack full of gold.
It is rough as guts, and I'm in full flight with my, 'I'm going to be Paul Ubana Jones' delusions. In spite of having no command of my guitar or voice, there is lots of passion. This song, This Home Town, was written in response to hearing of an NZ friend having an aneurism not long after having her first child. The song is a fictional story told from the point of view of the partner and child of a to-early-gone parent.
