I wrote a fairy tale and set it to music. Because I wanted to.
Actually I wrote a song cycle. I don't really know what a song cycle is but I wrote one. I conceived of an elaborate harmonic architecture for all the songs following a progression of keys that would go full circle. Then there was theme material which followed some kind of psychology that I made up. The whole thing was an enormous exercise in heavily pre-meditating the song writing process.
The Dream Song was part of the song cycle but also encapsulate the entire harmonic structure of the cycle. I'm pretty proud of this one, it's symphonic in its scope. Kind of maths meets music meets my desire to grow.
